AMAZON boosted women’s baseball by having players write a “letter to the future” on 30k baseballs
An estimated 4 million kids play baseball but only 100,000 of them are girls, so Amazon Prime Video arranged for some of those young female athletes and their adult counterparts to jointly write a letter addressed to “The Future” in which they promised to work at making baseball a game played by all genders equally. Amazon hit a homerun with this one by having the writers pen the letter on 30,000 baseballs. It was done to make a social-justice point but also to call attention to Amazon’s new drama series based on the 1992 Penny Marshall-directed movie “A League of Their Own” (Madonna, Tom Hanks, and Geena Davis headlined that flick about a women’s baseball team from the 1940s).
