CORONA beer stages the world’s first “plastic fishing” tournament
The lure Corona used to attract entrants was the promise of a cash reward to whoever reeled in the biggest haul of plastic waste in the waters off Mazatlán, Mexico. A total of 80 local fishermen signed up to cast their lines in the contest. And by day’s end, they had retrieved a combined total of three tons of plastic. The winning catch of the day weighed in at 815 pounds and the plastic was hauled out by a recycling partner.
