FOUR PAWS called attention to dogs orphaned by the war in Ukraine

Four Paws is a global nonprofit organization devoted to rescuing and protecting pets and other animals under the direct care or influence of people. Four Paws has been especially busy lately working to help the estimated 1.2 million dogs in Ukraine who lost their humans to the fighting that has engulfed the country since neighboring Russia invaded in February. That’s a lot of orphaned four-legged friends in urgent need of food, medical attention, and safe shelter, so Four Paws launched a donation drive to help meet those needs. Because most people outside the warzone were unaware of the plight of the orphaned dogs, Four Paws opted to tell the story in a series of illustrated ads headlined “Your Reach is Bigger Than You Think.” Each ad depicts a lonely dog amid bombed-out rubble, but being comforted by a giant hand that extends from a denim jacket sleeve stretching snake-like into the sky until it disappears in the distant horizon.
