NIKE brings back SPIKE LEE to help celebrate its 50th anniversary

Nike turned 50 in May. To celebrate, the sportswear brand went back to its marketing roots and reunited with actor-director Spike Lee to create an ad that pays homage to Nike’s past while also looking ahead to the future. In the late 1980s, Nike developed an ad campaign starring Lee in the role he played in the then-hit movie “She’s Gotta Have It” (that ad also starred basketball great Michael Jordan). In the new ad, Lee plays that same character. He reminisces about sports superstars of the years gone by. Then, the young woman with whom he’s chatting reels off the names of sports superstars who’ll be big in the future and assures Lee that he (and by implication Nike-watchers) “ain’t seen nothing yet.”
