AIRBNB offers housing to Afghan refugees

The sudden victory of the Taliban in Afghanistan caused countless civilians to flee the country. As a response, Airbnb, through its nonprofit arm, Airbnb.org, took action by finding temporary housing for 20,000 refugees at Airbnb properties around the world.

Anyone with an available extra room or rooms can sign up via Airbnb.org to host a refugee family. Airbnb.org hopes hosts will donate those accommodations but is prepared to cover the actual rental costs. Airbnb has been actively helping displaced people for four years now. This year, Airbnb.org also announced it had launched a $25-million refugee fund.
