LEGO debuted its first-ever LGBTQIA+ set

On June 1, Lego helped kick-off Pride Month by introducing its "Everyone is Awesome" set. The groundbreaking package of interlocking, rainbow-hued plastic bricks included 11 minifigures—each of a different color and none is gender-specific. Lego exec Matthew Ashton is credited as the designer; the set started as something Ashton made purely for self-enjoyment but everyone who saw it sitting atop Ashton’s desk thought it deserved to be put into mass production. And so it was. Retailing for just shy of $35, the "Everyone is Awesome" set is sold online and in Lego stores.
