PRINGLES started searching for a fan it could turn into a video game NPC
In late June, Pringles began taking applications from fans hoping to land the non-playable character (NPC) role of a Pringles vending machine re-stocker in the Xbox video game Train Sim World. Sometime possibly later this month, the snack brand will then pull at random from the pile of applications it receives a cohort of 50 names for inclusion on a finalists’ short list. The role will ultimately go to the person whose application exhibits the most originality and creativity in making the case for NPC superstardom. The lucky winner of the talent search gets paid roughly $24,000 in compensation and is promised to be featured in the game for at least a year.
